REV Birmingham is this month’s nonprofit in the spotlight.  Each month we honor an amazing nonprofit that provides much-needed services to our community.

We are big fans of REV and love seeing the actions they are taking to revitalize Birmingham. We enjoyed connecting with REV President and CEO, David Fleming, and discussing REV’s work in our community.

REV is a place-based revitalization and economic development nonprofit working to make the city of Birmingham a more vibrant place. Their work supports local businesses, creates great experiences, and strengthens historic places. Currently, REV focuses their work in downtown Birmingham (#DowntownBHM), specifically the City Center and the Switch (#TheSwitchBham) and the historic commercial district of Woodlawn (#WoodlawnBHM). They are driven by the core value that community leads and design feeds. Each district is unique, with different personalities, needs, and definitions of impact. They examine the pieces of a community and work with stakeholders from business owners and neighborhood associations to government and nonprofit partners to formulate a vision and design strategies that fuel it.

Several of REV Birmingham’s projects you may have experienced are the beautiful rainbow tunnels, the Woodlawn Street Market, and the colorful flex lane project on 20th Street.

Be sure to follow REV Birmingham and Woodlawn Street Market on social media to learn more about how they are revitalizing the city, and visit their website to learn more about their many projects at www.revbirmingham.org.
