Do you want to become a more courageous leader – someone who can initiate difficult conversations, make the best decision even when it’s unpopular, and choose what is right over what is easy? Then join us, Drs. Julie McDonald and Lisa Graham of McDonald Graham, LLC on October 27th and 28th, 2021 from 8:00am to 5:30pm in Birmingham, AL, for a two-day Dare to Lead™ workshop where we will guide you through the four skillsets identified by Dr. Brené Brown for courageous leadership:

  • Rumbling with Vulnerability
  • Living into Our Values
  • Braving Trust
  • Learning to Rise

We were selected and trained by Brené Brown as certified Dare to Lead™ facilitators. This workshop will guide leaders through the Dare to Lead™ curriculum and includes interactive exercises, vibrant, in-depth discussion, and key insights from Brené Brown’s research across a wide range of organizations. By participating in this workshop you will enhance the foundational skills that enable you to tackle the hardest parts of your role as a leader.

“With the courageous leadership tools and knowledge gained from the Dare to Lead™ workshop, I feel better equipped to take risks, build trust, establish genuine connections, and experiment with innovative approaches. These skills are critical to excelling in the academic medical arena, where brave, honest, and skilled leadership is essential.”  – Dr. Jeanne Marrazzo, Director, UAB Division of Infectious Diseases

The cost of the two-day workshop is $2500 per participant. If you register by July 30th, 2021, we will offer a $250 discount. Many organizations will reimburse tuition for professional development. Click here to download a proposal template you can use to get reimbursed by your employer.

The workshop will be in-person. All attendees must be fully vaccinated at least 2 weeks prior to the workshop. We will comply with all other safety measures recommended by medical experts at the time of the session. If you would like to attend but are unable to be vaccinated due to a medical reason, please contact us directly at admin@mcdonaldgraham.com.

Click here to register. If you can’t attend this session, but would like to be added to our Dare to Lead™ distribution list to be notified about future workshops, click here.

Our goal with this open enrollment workshop is to provide the Dare to Lead™ curriculum to individuals who do not have access to it at their organization. We will work to create a cohort that is a good blend of people from different companies, and thus, may cap the number of participants from any one organization. Additionally, if you work for a non-profit and are interested in one of the two reduced rate spots in the workshop, please reach out to Susan Andrews at admin@mcdonaldgraham.com.

“Previous leadership development courses focused more on how I could improve to get better results but mostly ignored the human interactions that are necessary to make those results happen. Dare to Lead™ allowed me to focus on how to become more personally skilled and satisfied with what I am doing as a leader. I am now realizing what a tremendous impact this can have on my team, my organization, and my interactions with clients.” – Scott Kelly, Attorney | Shareholder | Co-Chair for Affirmative Action/OFCCP Compliance Practice Group, Ogletree Deakins Law Firm

We hope you can join us as we share this groundbreaking work. If you have questions, please reach out to Susan Andrews at admin@mcdonaldgraham.com.

About the Dare to Lead™ program

Based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown, Dare to Lead™ is an empirically based courage- building program designed to be facilitated by organizational development professionals. Brené is a research professor at the University of Houston where she holds the Huffington Foundation – Brené Brown Endowed Chair at The Graduate College of Social Work. Brené is also a visiting professor in management at the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business. She has spent the past two decades studying courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy, and is the author of five #1 New York Times bestsellers: The Gifts of Imperfection, Daring Greatly, Rising Strong, Braving the Wilderness, and her latest book Dare to Lead, which is the culmination of a seven-year study on courage and leadership.

The most significant finding from Brené’s latest research is that courage is a collection of four skill sets that are teachable, measurable, and observable. The Dare to Lead™ program focuses on developing these courage-building skills through workshops, trainings, and coaching to help individuals, teams, and organizations move from armored leadership to daring leadership.
