Our February Nonprofit spotlight is Oasis Counseling for Women & Children. Each month we honor an amazing nonprofit that provides much-needed services to our community. To learn more about Oasis, we connected with Board Member and immediate past President, Frances Nolan.

Oasis Counseling for Women & Children provides quality mental health care to women, children, and families on an affordable sliding fee scale. Low-income individuals might go without much needed help were it not for the services provided by Oasis Counseling. This vulnerable population is able to overcome life challenges, heal and become stronger members of our community with the therapy provided by Oasis’ licensed professional counselors. Oasis has been a valuable part of the mental health community in Birmingham for over 25 years, and over 45,000 women, children, and family members have received services at Oasis.

Due to HIPAA regulations, Oasis is unable to use volunteers onsite with our clients; however, Oasis values the passion and positive energy provided by our supporters. Here are ways you can help:

  • Share the Oasis Facebook page (search @oasis4women on Facebook) on your hometown “What’s Happening” pages and share the Oasis Instagram page, @oasiscounseling. With teletherapy, Oasis is able to provide services in rural and other communities throughout Alabama, and this is a great way for supporters to share about the valuable services offered at Oasis.
  • Financial contributions offer a direct way to impact the life of a woman or child experiencing trauma from physical, verbal, or sexual abuse, severe depression & anxiety, grief from loss, and other mental health problems.
